| Project Description: |
- CBD Metro - construction and operation of an underground metro rail facility, expected to cost $4.8bn
- While funding for the CBD Metro was allocated in the 2008 mini-budget, Government is investigating the availability of private funding for the operation of the CBD Metro – integrated track, systems, trains, stations and operation
- There will be six stations along the underground line – Central, Town Hall Square, Martin Place, Wynyard / Barangaroo, Pyrmont and Rozelle
- Construction will commence on the 7km line in 2010, and the first trains are expected to operate by 2015
- CBD Metro is the core of an integrated metro facility in Sydney, which may extend to Parramatta/Westmead, northwest and southwest; and
- EOI to build both the infrastructure and operate the CBD Metro will be sought during 2009.
