Project Description:

The Living Communities Program is a program to renew and strengthen communities in high-need Public Housing estates in NSW, commencing with the Bonnyrigg Estate in Western Sydney.
The regeneration of the Bonnyrigg Estate, includes:

  • Design and construction of new infrastructure.
  • Design and construction of new Social Housing and private housing.
  • Rehabilitation of existing infrastructure.
  • Refurbishment of existing Social Housing.
  • Potentially increasing to 2000 the number of cottages, townhouses and units located within the Estate.

Private sector involvement will include responsibility for financing, planning, developing, designing, construction, refurbishment and maintenance of the public housing, as well as providing tenancy management services over a 30 year period.

Current Status:

Following negotiations with the preferred proponent, Bonnyrigg Partnerships (Becton Group Holdings, Westpac Banking Corporation, Spotless Property and Facilities Pty Ltd, and St George Community Housing Co-op Ltd) contracts were executed and became effective in April 2007.
